Can we get wifi?
Yes, 24 hours a day in all three properties.
Will our mobile phones work?
No, there is no network signal so close to the mountain. There are pockets of signal nearby, and in all local towns and villages. And there's always the landline: it's in the shared bootroom with an honesty box, and is available round the clock.
Can everyone party together?
Yes, Swallow Barn has ample space, facilities and equipment for 15 or more to cook, eat and socialise together.
Can we make as much noise as we like?
Yes, the nearest house is nearly half a mile away. We do ask guests to tell us if they are letting off fireworks so we can warn neighbours with livestock.
How far is the nearest shop, and is it hard to find?
The village shop is 4 miles away, with a large Co-op supermarket 7 miles away in Hay-on-Wye. Our Survival Guide has directions, postcodes, phone numbers for shops, fuel stations, cash points - all the things you might need.
Can we get a paper delivered?
Can we walk to the local pub?
Yes, depending on how far you like walking! We have two good pubs 1½ miles away, and we can also show you some great circular walks centred on pubs.
Can we get a supermarket delivery?
Yes, Waitrose in Abergavenny, and Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's in Hereford all deliver online orders to: Dukes Farm, Craswall Hereford HR2 0PW
Do we have to do our own cooking?
Not always. As well as the many good local pubs, fine French cuisine, camapés, sumptuous
afternoon teas, and good Indian food can all be ordered in advance and delivered in for 8+ guests.
Are there good walks nearby?
Plenty. You can walk anywhere on our 130 acre farm, the mountain is half a mile away, and there are dozens of public footpaths. Whether you just want to blow the cobwebs away, or prefer an Olympian hike, there are great walks, and the maps to take advantage of them.
Is there an enclosed dog exercise area?
No, we ask guests to stay with their dogs in the grounds.
How far is the closest train station?
Abergavenny station is 14 miles away, and Hereford is 17 miles, but harder to reach through the city.
Can we get a taxi?
Yes, taxis from either station are about £30. We can put you in touch with the local minibus company if you want to hire a minibus for a night out.

Do we need to bring our own bedding or towels?
Can we opt for synthetic duvets?
What baby equipment is there?
There is a standard cot, a travel cot, several high chairs, a wheelie walker, fireguard, spare car seat, changing mat and baby bath, all free of charge.
Are there any bikes we can use?
No, but we can provide dry storage if you bring your own. Bike hire is available locally at www.droverholidays.com or www.pedalsandpaddles.co.uk
Can we have visitors while we're staying?
Yes, within reason, inviting guests for the day is fine, but please ask beforehand.
Can we sleep extra people?
Yes, we have a put-u-up for hire (£25) and a sofa bed (£50) in Goose Cotts. They can be reserved and paid for during the online booking process. There is also an extra twin room with en suite facilities in the farmhouse, for which we charge £25 per person per night.
What are your payment terms?
You can reserve any dates for 7 days without obligation. Then a 25% deposit is due, with the balance payable no less than 4 weeks before arrival.
You can pay securely by debit or credit card online (our preferred method as your booking is automatically updated), or send payment by
online banking, or cheque in the post.
Are you in the middle of nowhere?
Pretty much, but with a games room, trampoline, ample comforts, and so much beauty all around, we think you'll find you enjoy the absence of the wider world! If not, you have full wifi in all properties.
Does it rain all the time?
No, we're in the rain shadow of the Black Mountains, with much less rain than Wales. And we face southwest, directly into the best of the sun.
