How much does it cost and what dates are available?

You can see our availability calendar for each of our properties on this website, or review all 3 together in our easy-to-use calendar. Simply set the selector to your preferred length of stay, and then hover over your preferred dates. A price will pop up with arrival & departure dates highlighted. Once you’ve chosen, click the preferred date period to bring up a booking form for your details. Your booking will be confirmed immediately by email following your card payment or a reservation placed if you'd prefer to pay by bank transfer.

What are your payment terms?

Our terms are 25% deposit within 7 days of booking, with the balance due 4 weeks before arrival. We accept all debit & credit cards on a recognised PCI compliant online payment interface. Our website will send a receipt by email and update your booking automatically. Alternatively, you can pay by bank transfer or cheque, or phone us on (01981) 510213 to make part or bulk payment. All details will be found on your booking confirmation.

How do I access my booking details?

If you already have a booking with us you can access the details online at any time to check your balance, pay securely and download our arrival information pack. You can also contact us directly through the booking confirmation page and will be sure that your message has been added directly to your booking notes. Emails we send have a unqiue link to your booking details.

Can we get wifi?

Yes, 24 hours a day in all three properties.

Will our mobile phones work?

Yes, although signal is stronger in some spots than others and is network specific.

Can everyone party together?

Yes, Swallow Barn has ample space, facilities and equipment for 15 or more to cook, eat and socialise together.

Can we make as much noise as we like?

Yes, but we request that guests do not let off fireworks. The valley amplifies the sound causing distress to livestock & pets nearby.

How far is the nearest shop, and is it hard to find?

The village shop is 4 miles away, with a large Co-op supermarket 7 miles away in Hay-on-Wye. Our Survival Guide has directions, postcodes, phone numbers for shops, fuel stations, cash points - all the things you might need.

Can we get a paper delivered?

No, but we can take in parcels & deliveries for guests before or during their stay.

Can we walk to the local pub?

Yes, depending on how far you like walking! We have two good pubs 1½ miles away, and we can also show you some great circular walks centred on pubs.

Can we get a supermarket delivery?

Yes, guests can book deliveries from any delivering supermarket to Dukes Farm, Craswall, HR2 0PW

Do we have to do our own cooking?

No. As well as many excellent local pubs, you can arrange a variety of menus delivered by our local caterers www.cakesandcatering.co.uk or the independent Indian restaurant in Hay-on-Wye www.redindigo.com

Are there good walks nearby?

Plenty. You can walk anywhere on our 130 acre farm, the mountain is half a mile away, and there are dozens of public footpaths. Whether you just want to blow the cobwebs away, or prefer an Olympian hike, there are great walks, and the maps to take advantage of them.

Is there an enclosed dog exercise area?

No, we ask guests to stay with their dogs in the grounds.

How far is the closest train station?

Abergavenny station is 14 miles away, and Hereford is 17 miles, but harder to reach through the city.

Can we get a taxi?

Yes, taxis from either station are about £30. We can put you in touch with the local minibus company if you want to hire a minibus for a night out.

What supplies will we find in the barns?

Tea, coffee, sugar, milk & biscuits to welcome you on arrival, plus all kitchen linen, cleaning materials, and bathroom items. You'll find pretty much everything you need.

Do we need to bring our own bedding or towels?

No

Can we opt for synthetic duvets?

Yes

What baby equipment is there?

There is a travel cot, 2 high chairs, a baby bath and changing mat, all free to borrow.

Are there any bikes we can use?

No, but we can provide dry storage if you bring your own. Bike hire is available locally at www.droverholidays.com

Can we have visitors while we're staying?

Yes, within reason, inviting guests for the day is fine, but please ask beforehand.

Can we sleep extra people?

Extra beds available: double sofa bed in Goose Cotts (£50); put-u-up for any chosen location (£25). For those over and above the stated numbers in the properties, prior permission may be given for tents or extra children’s beds charged at £15/nt along with our discretionary damage & excess cleaning deposit, which is returnable within 2 weeks of departure.

Are you in the middle of nowhere?

Pretty much, but with a games room, trampoline, ample comforts, and so much beauty all around, we think you'll find you enjoy the absence of the wider world! If not, you have full wifi in all properties.

Does it rain all the time?

No, we're in the rain shadow of the Black Mountains, with much less rain than Wales. And we face southwest, directly into the best of the sun.
